Our totally punk rock director of photography Hassan Abdul-Wahid breakfasts (okay, breaks fast, if yer gonna be pedantic about it) with a chili cheeseburger from Tommy's on the morning of our first shoot.

By the way, this won't be a Web series shot on somebody's Canon DSLR.  We've got the same gear they used to shoot Battlestar Galactica!  Squeal!  (Now I know this isn't how a real professional would talk about the gear, but this is my frame of reference and what makes me pee my pants.)  This Web series is going to be feature quality, darn it!
Production began on Sunday, December 2 at Bent-Con!  Thanks to our wonderful and supportive friends at Bent-Con, we were able to begin telling the story of a cosplayer, who begins to believe that she really is a superhero, and her best friend, who will have to navigate her through being "exiled to the planet Earth."

Reenactment of a moment when a cameraman had asked Kit Quinn to pretend to fly,
which wasn't necessarily the safest thing.
(The camera in shot isn't the one with which we're shooting the series.)

Right now, we're shooting just enough to put together a "sizzle reel" for presentation to possible funders and media outlets.  When we release it on the Web, we'd love to have feedback from all of Kit 'n' Silv's fans and supporters, and maybe y'all can help us make this Web series—no, it's a love letter to the cosplay community—a reality.

Kelby MacGyvers Silv's tookus to prevent a wardrobe malfunction.

This will be a nine-episode Web series, which we hope to produce in three blocks and put out over the course of the first half of 2013.  At the moment, we have no money for a production budget, and the director and I are financing this out of our own pockets (I'm putting this all on my credit cards).  So ... help!  Please!

The cast waiting for us to finish setting up the camera for the next shot.

If you're as excited about this as we are, please pitch in to the Kickstarter campaign we'll be launching in January 2013 ... or e-mail Geek & Sundry and tell 'em you want to see Sweethearts of the Galaxy on their awesome channel alongside The Guild and Space Janitors!

We won't be able to do this without you.  In fact, we're doing this for you!
